Music video

Conventions of an indie rock music video.

• Artists appears and lip syncs 
• throughout the music video the track s played
• Narrative throughout 
• Cutting to the beat
• Dynamic camera movements 
• Experiment 

We stuck to all of these conventions
 We experimented to make our different as well as following a convention.


There was one we went against

When there is a change in location, the costumes change.
We went against this convention as we wanted to show the confusion and abnormal idea of the main characters situation. It shows that it is happening there and then, he walks through one door however he comes out somewhere completely different. We needed to keep in the same costume otherwise the audience wouldn't understand the confusion the main character is feeling.




Ancillary

The indie rock bands cd covers have texts in the bind of the cd. We used this.
The photo taken for the advert is used for the whole advert. We also did this.

However we went against the convention of the artists not appearing on the album cover - We put all 3 band members on the front cover. As they had UV paint on their faces we know it will attract attention. However its not showing their true identity as they all have this paint on their faces sort of like a mask but this still delivers the point that they are all individuals as all the band members have different UV designs.

 

This is a plan that we made so that we kept ourselves organised and on top of everything. We have to re shoot the band shots to make them even more interesting to watch. To be able to do this we need to check if the drama rooms are free to use. we also need to discard the first shots in the bedroom, they don't really relate to the stimulus. We have to create four scenarios of harry doing his everyday things. This gives us an insight of how Harry's character. 

This is a story board for our CD cover. This helped us to stay on track with our work ad give us an idea of what we want it to look like.

These are a few images of us filming in the alley way so that we could clone Demi so it looks like there are a whole group of people where Harry walks out from. In this particular scene Harry will be trying to get away from the group of people who are taking away his identity.

We decided to shoot at rose hill skate park, to film harry just being himself to show in the music video shots that will establish Harrys character. We done this to show the audience his individuality before it gets taken away. Because Harry is the main character we needed to find out as much as possible about him for example what he enjoys doing and just him in everyday life. we also took shots of him sorting himself out in the mirror and stroking his cat, these were natural everyday movements and made it seem more natural. Somewhere in those scenes Demi was hiding somewhere in the shot to show how his identity was being taken away soon. The skateboarding shots gave the audience an idea of what type of person he is. I brought a smaller skateboard with me so that we could use moving shots in our piece, we done this as an experiment and I felt it worked very well. This was very hard to keep the camera stable but we persisted through it and tried many times to keep it as steady as possible.
